Energy Minister unveils GHS 1 million scholarship fund for needy students

The Member of Parliament for Yapei Kusawgu Constituency and Minister for Energy and Green Transition, Mr John Abdulai Jinapor, has launched a GHS 1 million Education Scholarship Fund to support brilliant but needy students within his constituency.
The initiative, unveiled at a ceremony in the Savannah Region, aims to provide financial assistance to students across all levels of education — from basic to tertiary institutions.
According to the MP, the fund seeks to ease the financial burden on parents while promoting equal access to quality education for all.
Speaking at the launch, Mr. Jinapor reaffirmed his long-standing commitment to human capital development, describing education as “the most powerful tool for transforming lives and communities.”
He assured constituents that the scholarship fund would be managed transparently, with beneficiaries selected based strictly on merit and genuine need.
“This fund is not about politics; it’s about empowering our young people with knowledge and opportunity,” he emphasised. “Education remains the foundation for development, and I am determined to ensure that no talented child is left behind because of financial challenges.”
The Education Scholarship Fund forms part of the MP’s broader vision to empower the youth, improve educational outcomes, and promote sustainable development within the Yapei- Kusawgu Constituency.
Local leaders, education stakeholders, and community members present at the launch commended the initiative, describing it as a timely investment in the future of the constituency.
