UW/R: Police intensify operations after arresting 10 robbery and kidnap suspects at Kendeu
Officers of the Ghana Police Service (GPS) have arrested 10 suspects for robbery in the Wa West District.
During the operation, other suspects fled, but the combined team of police and military personnel retrieved five locally manufactured guns, 25 AA live cartridges, two spent cartridges, two knives, and several spiritual talismans.
The operation was conducted after police, on Sunday, November 23, 2025, at 2 PM, received report of a group of armed young men attacking road users around Kendeu community in the Wa West District, robbing victims of money and other valuables.
Police said the attackers had also assaulted and robbed some market women who were travelling along the route.
"Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects had earlier abducted two victims, identified as John Gaan and Dari Moses Dondomor, who, together with their properties are yet to be found," a police statement noted.
Police added they were in touch with complainants, who are assisting in investigation.
Meanwhile, the 10 arrested suspects are in custody, with all exhibits retained.
Police said they have intensified operations in the community.
"Integrated patrols are ongoing for deterrence and assurance in the area," they said. "Key leadership engagement with community leaders and other relevant stakeholders also ongoing to support search efforts for the missing victims and de-escalate tensions."
