Gender Minister Momo Lartey assures Ofankor domestic violence victim of support for she and her 2 children
The Gender Minister Dr Agnes Naa Momo Lartey has interacted with Harriet Amuzu whose brutal abuse at the hands of her husband John Odartey Lamptey was captured in a viral video.
Harriet, a 32-year-old mother of two, had fled her Ofankor residence, fearing for her life, and so when police officers arrived, she was nowhere to be found. Her husband and his two siblings were arrested and arrainged, however.
She revealed to social media personality Naana Donkor Arthur that she had scaled the walls of their home - the gate had been locked per the disturbing footage - and joined a bus to Kumasi even though she knew no one there.
This morning, news broke that Dr Momo Lartey had visited her. The gender, children and social protection minister consoled her and assured her of support for her and her children, Kelvin and Laura.
"Everyone who sees our sister will have tears in the eyes, you'd tear up. We thank God for her life. We're getting her to safety, and the children as well. Once they are safe, we'll look at the next step forward. By all means, it's our collective duty to protect life, and so we'll ensure that she's okay," Dr Momo Lartey said.
