Asante Kotoko SC receive royal backing from Manhyia ahead of Sun clash with Accra Hearts of Oak
A high-level delegation from Manhyia Palace has visited the Kumasi Asante Kotoko squad to rally support and boost morale ahead of Sunday’s much-anticipated Super Clash against rivals Accra Hearts of Oak.
In a statement shared on X, the club said: "Asante Kotoko SC welcomed a distinguished delegation of revered leaders from the Asante Kingdom this afternoon. Led by the Chief of Staff of the Manhyia Palace, Mr. Kofi Badu, Offinsomanhene Nana Dwamena Akenten II, Bantamahene Baffour Owusu Amankwatia VI, and other traditional authorities, the visit aimed to motivate our warriors for the upcoming #SuperClash against Hearts of Oak on Sunday."
The visit comes at a challenging period for Kotoko, who suffered a 3-1 league defeat to Heart of Lions before exiting the FA Cup after a 4-2 penalty shootout loss to Aduana FC at the Baba Yara Stadium last Sunday.
The cup setback also triggered the resignation of head coach Karim Zito, leaving the Porcupine Warriors seeking stability and a quick response on the pitch.
With home support expected, Kotoko will be determined to turn their fortunes around when they take on Hearts. Kickoff is scheduled for 4 PM on Sunday, February 15, 2026, with referee Daniel Laryea in charge of proceedings.
