Reports suggest that former Ghana international Samuel Osei Kuffour could be poised to take over as the next Chief Executive Officer of Asante Kotoko SC.

According to media sources, the incoming Board of Directors has recommended Kuffour for the top executive role.

The club has been without a substantive CEO since Nana Yaw Amponsah’s departure, with day-to-day operations currently managed by an Interim Management Committee (IMC) led by Nana Apinkrah Akwasi Awuah, supported by Kwesi Appiah and Malik Jabir.

The newly constituted board, expected to assume office ahead of the 2026/27 season, will be chaired by James Osei Brown, with Kwasi Osei Ofori as vice-chairman.

Founder and CEO of Rigworld Group, Kofi Amoa-Abban, is also expected to serve as a board member.

Once the board formally begins its tenure, Kuffour is widely tipped to assume the CEO position.

The club is also expected to announce a new head coach ahead of the new Ghana Premier League season.

Kuffour, who enjoyed a distinguished career in Europe with AS Roma and FC Bayern Munich, was also a key figure in the Ghana national team that qualified for the country’s first FIFA World Cup in 2006.

After nearly two decades abroad, he returned to Ghana in April 2009 with Kotoko on a short-term deal but retired later that year without making an official appearance.

He later joined the club’s board in August 2013.
