Ghana Medical Trust Fund engages GMA ahead of rollout
The Ghana Medical Trust Fund has held a high-level engagement with the Ghana Medical Association (GMA) as part of preparations toward its nationwide rollout scheduled for April 1.
The meeting, held at the Korle- Bu Teaching Hospital, brought together senior management of the Fund and leadership of the GMA to discuss implementation strategies, share insights and strengthen collaboration.
Officials of the Trust Fund led by the Administrator, Adwoa Oboubia Darko-Opoku, acknowledged the GMA’s early support, noting that the Association was among its first donors when the initiative was launched in April last year.
Discussions focused on the Fund’s operational framework, with both sides exchanging views on improving efficiency, transparency and patient-centred delivery.
The engagement also provided an opportunity for the Fund to receive feedback from medical professionals with extensive frontline experience in Ghana’s healthcare system.
The GMA, which represents over 10,000 doctors nationwide, reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the initiative and contributing to its success.
At the end of the meeting, both parties expressed satisfaction with the level of engagement and alignment on key objectives, signalling a strengthened partnership ahead of the Fund’s rollout.
The Trust Fund expressed appreciation to the GMA leadership, including its President, Ernest Yorke, and Vice President, Arko Akoto Ampaw, for their collaboration and support.
The engagement forms part of broader efforts to ensure the Fund operates effectively to support patients and healthcare providers across the country.
