Adenta Circuit Court remands pastor over alleged false communication
The Adenta Circuit Court in the Greater Accra Region has remanded a pastor, William Gyimah, into police custody over alleged false communication and publication of false news.
Presiding judge, Her Honour Angela Attachie, ordered the remand on Wednesday, April 8, 2026, following submissions by the prosecution.
The accused has been charged with false communication contrary to Section 76 of the Electronic Communications Act, 2008 (Act 775), and publication of false news with intent to cause fear and alarm, contrary to Section 209 of the Criminal and Other Offences Act, 1960 (Act 29).
According to the prosecution, Mr Gyimah was captured in a viral video circulated on social media platforms, including TikTok, allegedly making false and threatening statements directed at the Vice President, Prof Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang.
The prosecution prayed the court to remand the accused to facilitate ongoing police investigations, a request the court granted after hearing the case.
Mr Gyimah is expected to reappear before the court on April 13, 2026.
