S/R: IGP deploys special police team to Geniyiri after reprisal attacks
The Ghana Police Service has deployed a special team to Geniyiri in the Savannah Region following reprisal attacks reported in the community.
According to the police, the deployment was ordered by the Inspector-General of Police to reinforce security in the area and support ongoing efforts to restore law and order.
The special team, made up of intelligence officers and investigators, has been tasked to work closely with the regional command to intensify security operations and identify those responsible for the attacks.
Police said the officers will also assist in investigations aimed at ensuring that the perpetrators are arrested and prosecuted.
The Savannah Regional Police Command has assured residents and the general public that calm has since been restored in Geniyiri.
Authorities further indicated that security operations remain active in the community as efforts continue to track down and apprehend individuals behind the reprisal attacks.
The police have urged the public to remain calm and cooperate with security personnel by providing any relevant information that could assist in the ongoing investigations.
