Ghana’s Minister for Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has announced the successful evacuation of all Ghanaians in Israel who requested government assistance, describing the operation as a major achievement in safeguarding citizens abroad.

In a Facebook update, the minister confirmed that all affected nationals have been safely transported back to Ghana, with the evacuation exercise also extending to some diplomatic staff from Ghana’s embassy in Tel Aviv.

According to him, while a number of embassy officials were evacuated, a small team has been retained in Israel to provide essential consular services.

Mr. Ablakwa expressed gratitude to both Israeli and Egyptian authorities for their support and cooperation throughout the evacuation process, which facilitated the safe return of Ghanaian nationals.

He also welcomed the evacuees, noting that they arrived in the country just hours prior to his announcement.

The minister assured that the government, under the leadership of John Dramani Mahama, remains committed to protecting the welfare of Ghanaians both at home and abroad.

He added that efforts to ensure the safety of citizens in conflict-affected areas will continue, as the administration prioritises the well-being of all nationals.
