The Minister for Defence, Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, has issued a strong warning to the public—particularly young Ghanaians seeking recruitment into the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF)—to be on high alert over a fake Facebook account impersonating him.

In a statement posted on his verified social media platform, Dr. Boamah revealed that fraudsters have created a fake Facebook account using his name and photo to deceive unsuspecting individuals, especially during the ongoing recruitment drive into the Armed Forces.

“My Facebook page is verified,” the Minister stressed. “Please be cautious and vigilant, especially during recruitment into the Ghana Armed Forces. Do not pay bribes!”

He cautioned the public against engaging with any suspicious messages or recruitment promises linked to the fake account and urged anyone who encounters such activity to report it immediately to the Cybersecurity Authority and the Police.

Dr. Boamah emphasised that recruitment into the Armed Forces follows a transparent and lawful process and does not require any form of payment or influence.

He concluded his message with a call for greater digital safety: “Let’s stay safe online.”

Authorities are investigating the impersonation, and the Defence Ministry continues to work closely with relevant security agencies to clamp down on cyber fraud targeting vulnerable youth
