Vice President meets female MPs at Jubilee House

Vice President Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang has hosted a delegation of female Members of Parliament at the Presidency, in a meeting centred on strengthening women's leadership and deepening gender equity in national governance.
The visit, described by the MPs as a show of solidarity and encouragement, also served as an opportunity to express appreciation for what they called a renewed atmosphere of inclusive and purposeful leadership under the current administration.
During the meeting, the female legislators commended the Vice President for her trailblazing role and reaffirmed their commitment to promoting policies that support women’s participation in politics and decision-making.
They emphasised the urgent need to implement the Affirmative Action Law, which they believe is critical to broadening women's representation in leadership at all levels.
Vice President Opoku-Agyemang expressed heartfelt gratitude for their support and congratulated the MPs on their individual and collective contributions to parliamentary work and national progress.
She urged them to use their platforms not only to lead but also to mentor the next generation of female leaders.
“We must extend the opportunities we have received to other aspiring women,” she said.
“Let us offer mentorship and encouragement to help them rise.
Our journey must inspire others to follow.”
The Vice President further stressed the importance of sustained dialogue and cross-sector collaboration to push forward the transformative agenda of President John Dramani Mahama, particularly in the areas of gender equity, good governance, and national development.
She concluded by reaffirming the administration’s commitment to inclusive leadership and called on the MPs to remain united in their efforts to build a more equitable and progressive Ghana.
