Defence Minister announces 12,000 job opportunities in Ghana Armed Forces

The Minister for Defence, Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, has announced that the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) will recruit a total of 12,000 young Ghanaians over the next four years as part of a national employment drive aimed at empowering the youth through military service.
Addressing the public, Dr. Boamah urged young people across the country to prepare themselves physically and medically for the rigorous recruitment and training process.
The mass enlistment initiative, which has received full endorsement from President John Dramani Mahama, is expected to provide stable employment and instil discipline and patriotism among Ghanaian youth.
“This is a call to serve and defend our beloved country.
The Ghana Armed Forces is opening its doors to 12,000 qualified and fit young people.
The opportunity is real, and it has the backing of the President,” Dr. Boamah stated.
He also stressed the importance of medical fitness, cautioning potential applicants to take their health seriously before attempting the physically demanding selection process.
“As a former staff member of the Ministry of Defence stationed at the 37 Military Hospital, I urge all interested applicants to ensure they are in good health.
Military training is intense — some have even lost their lives during the process,” he warned.
The Defence Minister encouraged the youth to stay alert for official announcements regarding the recruitment schedule, urging them to "stay fit and stay safe" in anticipation of the opportunity.
Details of the application process will be announced in due course.
