Bono Regional Minister boosts security on Sunyani–Atronie road to combat robbery

The Bono Regional Security Council, under the leadership of the Regional Minister, Joseph Addae Akwaboa, has intensified security operations along the Sunyani–Atronie road in a bid to curb increasing incidents of armed robbery.
The move follows rising concerns over the safety of passengers and road users, who have been frequent targets of robberies, largely attributed to the poor condition of the road.
In an interview with CTV and Accra FM, Minister Akwaboa revealed that the Regional Security Council has established seven police posts along the stretch to ensure constant monitoring and swift response to criminal activities.
He further noted that in addition to the police posts, a dedicated patrol team will be deployed to provide backup support and increase police visibility.
Plans are also underway to improve communication in the area by extending mobile network coverage, enabling road users to report suspicious activities more easily.
The Regional Minister disclosed that CCTV cameras will soon be installed at strategic points along the road to enhance surveillance and assist police officers in tracking and responding to security threats.
Community members and stakeholders in Atronie have welcomed the initiative and commended the Regional Minister and the Security Council for their proactive steps to restore safety and confidence for commuters along the Sunyani–Atronie corridor.
