Bank of Ghana calls for stronger collaboration to protect financial integrity
The Bank of Ghana has participated in the cooperation between Law Enforcement Agencies and the Banking Community (COCLAB) Technical Committee workshop held in Accra on Wednesday, December 18, 2025, with a call for closer collaboration to safeguard the financial system.
The workshop, held under the theme “Promoting Financial Integrity through Multi-Stakeholder Collaboration,” brought together key stakeholders from law enforcement agencies and the banking sector to discuss strategies for strengthening financial oversight and consumer protection.
Speaking at the event, the Second Deputy Governor of the Bank of Ghana, Mrs. Matilda Asante-Asiedu, stressed the importance of coordinated action to curb unlicensed financial activities, particularly within the rapidly expanding digital finance space.
She cautioned that periods of economic recovery often attract fraudulent actors seeking to exploit regulatory gaps and unsuspecting consumers.
“Economic recovery can attract bad actors. This is precisely the time when we must be more vigilant and deliberate to protect these hard-won gains,” Mrs. Asante-Asiedu stated.
She reaffirmed the Bank of Ghana’s commitment to working closely with law enforcement agencies and industry players to strengthen regulatory enforcement, enhance financial integrity and protect the public.
Participants at the workshop underscored the need for sustained cooperation among stakeholders to address emerging financial crimes and ensure a resilient and trustworthy financial system.
