Ashanti Region axle Weigh station workers protest against manager over alleged mismanagement
Workers at the Axle Weigh Stations across the Ashanti Region have staged a protest against their National Manager, Madam Elizabeth Arjarquah, over allegations of mismanagement and poor leadership.
The demonstration involved employees from the Akom, Kwadaso, Boankra, Ejisu, and Adanse Asokwa weigh stations, who have collectively called on President John Dramani Mahama to intervene and dismiss the manager to safeguard the integrity and operations of the facilities.
The protesting staff accuse Madam Arjarquah of running the stations in a manner that undermines efficiency, transparency, and morale.
They claim that her management style has led to operational lapses and growing dissatisfaction among workers.
Speaking to reporters, some of the workers expressed frustration over what they described as persistent neglect of staff welfare, unfair treatment, and a lack of accountability in the handling of station affairs.
They urged the government to take swift action to address their concerns, warning that continued silence could jeopardise the effective functioning of the region’s weigh stations, which play a crucial role in regulating heavy-duty vehicles and protecting Ghana’s road infrastructure.
Authorities are yet to officially respond to the allegations or the workers’ petition for managerial change.
