Shatta Wale submits 'Street Crown' hit for Grammy consideration

Ghanaian music star Charles Nii Armah 'Shatta Wale' Mensah has submitted his new big hit Street Crown to the Recording Academy in the United States of America for Grammy consideration.
Wale hopes to have the song nominated to compete in the Best African Music Performance category.
The Recording Academy, organisers of the Grammy Awards, have acknowledged receipt of Shatta Wale's entry for the 68th edition of the iconic show.
The Best African Music Performance category was introduced two years ago, after Recording Academy CEO Harvey Mason Jr visited Ghana, advised by his consultant, Ghanaian media and events star Dentaa Amoateng MBE.
Street Crown has enchanted music fans locally and internationally. Shatta Wale's role model Vybz Kartel loved it enough to write a verse for it, and perform it on a social media video which went viral. On September 27, 2025, an official remix with Kartel on it was released.
