Agric Minister hails private sector's role in poultry feed production

Minister for Food and Agriculture, Mr. Eric Opoku, has paid a working visit to the site of a state-of-the-art poultry feed factory under construction by A2 Company in Kumasi.
The facility, which will operate under the brand name "NKOKƆ NKETENKETE FEED," is expected to be a game-changer in Ghana’s poultry industry.
The factory boasts a processing and storage capacity of 30,000 tonnes of maize and soya beans, positioning it as a critical supply hub for poultry farmers across the country.
Once operational, it will provide a reliable market for local maize and soya producers while offering quality poultry feed at more affordable prices.
Speaking during the visit, Minister Opoku praised A2 Company for its bold investment, describing the initiative as a timely private sector intervention that aligns with the government's strategic push to revamp the poultry sector.
“I commend A2 for this visionary step. This factory is not only going to help reduce the cost of feed but will also significantly support the country’s efforts to cut down on poultry imports,” the Minister said.
He emphasised that the project underscores the power of public-private partnerships in solving national challenges such as food security, unemployment, and import dependency.
“This is clear evidence of how agribusiness can drive youth employment and transform local economies,” he added.
The A2 poultry feed project is expected to create direct and indirect jobs for hundreds of Ghanaians while deepening value addition within the agricultural value chain.
The brand NKOKƆ NKETENKETE FEED is set to officially launch soon, marking what stakeholders believe will be a major boost for Ghana's poultry farmers.
The Minister’s visit reaffirms the government’s commitment to supporting agribusinesses that contribute to Ghana’s food self-sufficiency agenda and provide sustainable livelihoods for its citizens.
