Postponement: Morocco to host CAF WAFCON 2026 in July-August
The TotalEnergies CAF Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) 2026 will now take place in Morocco from 25 July to 16 August 2026, following a rescheduling of the tournament originally set for 17 March to 3 April.
The Confédération Africaine de Football (CAF) made the change after discussions with partners including FIFA, citing “unforeseen circumstances” and emphasising that the adjustment aims to ensure the success of Africa’s premier women’s football competition.
Morocco was awarded the hosting rights in October 2024, marking a significant milestone for the development of women’s football on the continent.
Preparations for the tournament are already underway, with CAF and its partners confident that WAFCON 2026 will be a memorable showcase of talent and sportsmanship.
