The government has set aside GHS 146,268,659.80 to fund the Black Stars’ participation in the 2026 FIFA World Cup, Sports Minister Kofi Adams has revealed.

The allocation, just under $13.8 million, will cover all preparations and tournament expenses, including training camps, travel, logistics, player bonuses, and remuneration for the technical team.

The ministry clarified that this budget assumes a full competition scenario, dependent on Ghana progressing through all stages of the tournament. Officials have promised a more detailed breakdown of spending as the team’s preparations intensify.

As part of their build-up, the Black Stars will take part in international friendlies during the March break against Germany and Austria, followed by a match against Mexico in May.

Ghana has been drawn in Group L, opening their campaign against Panama on June 17, facing England on June 23, and concluding the group stage against Croatia on June 27.

Following consecutive group-stage exits in previous tournaments, the team is focused on improving its performance at the 2026 World Cup, which will be co-hosted by the USA, Canada, and Mexico.
