GFA approves $310k honorarium for World Cup Management Committee
The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has approved a $310,000 honorarium for members of its newly restructured management committee as preparations intensify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Each of the five committee members will receive $62,000, Sports Minister Kofi Adams told Parliament’s Select Committee on Sports.
The payment is part of a broader budget submitted to the Ministry of Youth and Sports to support Ghana’s World Cup campaign.
The committee was formed after the previous management team, chaired by Mark Addo, was dissolved following Ghana’s failure to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations. Its mandate includes strengthening administrative coordination and overseeing preparations for the resumption of World Cup qualifiers.
COCOBOD boss Dr Randy Abbey serves as chairman, with former national captain Stephen Appiah as vice-chairman handling player relations.
Dr Richard Nsenkyire manages special duties, while Moses Armah and Samuel Aboabire are responsible for operational management aimed at improving team efficiency.
Minister Adams emphasised that the $310,000 is strictly for committee honoraria and does not include player bonuses or other operational costs.
The overall budget for Ghana’s World Cup participation is projected at $13.7 million, covering management payments, player incentives, training, logistics, and other tournament-related expenses.
The Black Stars will establish their base camp at Bryant University in the United States, where they will train and prepare for the tournament.
Ghana has been drawn in Group L alongside Panama, England, and Croatia. Their campaign kicks off on 17 June against Panama, followed by matches against England on 23 June and Croatia on 27 June.
