Black Princesses’ coach expresses disappointment after draw with South Africa
Ghana U20 Women’s national team coach Charles Sampson has voiced his disappointment following a 2-2 draw against South Africa in the first leg of the FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup qualifiers.
The Black Princesses squandered a two-goal first-half lead at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday, February 8, 2026.
Goals from Agnes Yeboah and Linda Owusu Ansah had put Ghana in a strong position, but South Africa staged a determined comeback to snatch a valuable away draw.
Speaking after the match, Sampson lamented his team’s lapse in concentration.
“I’m absolutely disappointed with the result. We wanted to keep a clean sheet against South Africa. Conceding two goals is very disappointing,” he said.
Ghana now face a tough challenge in the return leg on February 14, needing a disciplined performance away from home to keep their hopes of qualifying for the tournament in Poland alive.
