The Vice President, Jane Naana Opoku Agyemang, has called for enhanced coordination and stronger public engagement in government communication following a strategic meeting with the Minister of State in charge of Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, and his team.

The meeting reviewed the current state of government communication and explored measures to improve efficiency, transparency and outreach.

Officials from the Ministry outlined recent restructuring efforts aimed at streamlining operations, improving efficiency and reducing costs.

They also highlighted the work of key agencies under its supervision, including the Information Services Department, Ghana Publishing Company, Ghana Broadcasting Corporation, Graphic Communications Group and the Ghana News Agency.

The agencies outlined ongoing efforts to improve service delivery despite challenges such as liquidity constraints, increased competition and broader operational pressures.

Among the initiatives highlighted were the Government Accountability Series, nationwide public engagement programmes and reforms to ensure timely publishing and broadcasting.

In her remarks, the Vice President emphasised the need to bridge the communication gap between government and citizens, noting that effective public communication is essential for transparency, trust and national cohesion.

She commended the Ministry for its initiatives, particularly the Government Accountability Series, and urged stronger collaboration among agencies to maximise their impact.

Prof. Opoku-Agyemang further stressed the importance of managing information strategically, describing it as a key factor in shaping public perception and national confidence.

She encouraged continued innovation and expanded outreach to bring government closer to the people.

She also reaffirmed the government’s commitment to supporting the Ministry and its agencies in addressing operational challenges and strengthening the country’s communication framework.
