Parliament approves ¢8.7b for DACF in 2026 Budget
Parliament has approved an allocation of GH¢8.7 billion to the District Assemblies Common Fund (DACF) for the 2026 financial year under the 2026 Appropriation Act.
The allocation, which represents five per cent of the nation’s projected total revenue, is in line with constitutional requirements. The new figure of ¢8,769,707,900 marks a 16.78 per cent increase from the GH¢7.51 billion allocated to the Fund in 2025.
The DACF serves as a critical source of financing for Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Assemblies (MMDAs), enabling them to perform governance functions and implement development projects across the country.
Under the approved arrangement, the funds will be distributed using a structured, data-driven formula designed to ensure fairness, transparency, and equitable allocation among assemblies.
Accurate and detailed data will guide the allocation process to promote balanced development nationwide.
Parliament will also provide oversight to ensure the funds are effectively utilised, with a focus on infrastructure improvement and enhancing service delivery in communities across Ghana.
