Ghana plans emergency evacuation of nationals from Kuwait and Iraq
The Embassy of the Republic of Ghana in Kuwait has announced plans by the Government of Ghana to conduct an emergency evacuation of Ghanaian nationals living in Kuwait and Iraq.
In a public notice issued on March 16, 2026, the embassy urged Ghanaian citizens in the two countries who wish to be evacuated to register with the mission as part of preparations for the exercise.
Ghanaians residing in Kuwait have been asked to complete an online registration form provided by the embassy, while those in Iraq have been directed to contact designated phone numbers to submit their details for the evacuation process.
The embassy further indicated that individuals who have already registered must reconfirm their interest in the evacuation no later than March 18, 2026.
Authorities also clarified that the Government of Ghana will not be responsible for returning evacuees to Kuwait or Iraq once the ongoing conflict ends.
The announcement comes amid heightened tensions in the Middle East, which have raised safety concerns for foreign nationals in several countries in the region.
The embassy said it will continue to provide guidance and assistance to Ghanaian citizens as arrangements for the evacuation are finalised.
