Work progresses on Cardiothoracic Centre at Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital
Work is steadily advancing on the construction of a new Cardiothoracic Centre at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital, following a recent technical working visit to assess progress on the project.
The project started in January and is part of broader efforts to strengthen Ghana’s healthcare infrastructure.
Just six weeks after the sod-cutting ceremony, visible progress has been made on the foundational phase of the development.
A visit undertaken by the Ghana Medical Trust Fund, led by its Administrator, Adwoa Obubia Darko-Opoku, to evaluate ongoing groundwork and ensure that critical infrastructure decisions are made early to support the successful execution of the project. The initiative is being implemented in close collaboration with the Ministry of Health to align technical expertise, planning, and delivery.
The Administrator of the Ghana Medical Trust Fund, Obuobia Darko-Opoku, joined her team on site alongside Mr. Adann Benjamin Diaz, Chief Executive Officer of ADB Ghana Medicals Limited, for the review.
Technical guidance was also provided by Mr. Fred Effah-Yeboah, Director of General Administration at Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital, and Mr. Kwame Sarfo, Head of Capital Investments and Projects at the Ministry of Health.
Discussions focused on key decisions regarding power capacity, utilities, and structural planning to ensure the facility meets required standards.
Project officials emphasised that the foundational stage remains the most demanding phase of construction, noting that once completed, the full scope and impact of the intervention will become more evident.
The Cardiothoracic Centre forms part of the government’s broader health sector agenda aimed at expanding specialist care services and improving access to advanced medical treatment in the country.
