NHIS campus connect train stops at UHAS to boost student enrollment
The National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) Campus Connect Train has made a stop at the University of Health and Allied Sciences (UHAS) in Ho, as part of a strategic brand activation aimed at bringing NHIS services directly to students.
The initiative is designed to position the Scheme as an accessible, reliable, and student-focused healthcare partner, while encouraging registration and renewal among young people on campus.
Vice-Chancellor of UHAS, Lydia Aziato, welcomed the team and proposed that the activation be institutionalised as an annual engagement.
Her call was supported by Registrar Yaa Amankwaa Opuni and Dean of Students Judith A. Torgbor, who urged students to prioritise their health by enrolling on the scheme and renewing their membership.
They emphasised that student wellness remains a key driver of academic performance and overall success.
During the engagement, Volta Regional Public Relations Officer, Christopher Galenkui, observed that many students had limited knowledge of their NHIS benefits.
He noted that the Campus Connect initiative seeks to bridge this information gap and strengthen the NHIS brand presence among the youth.
Acting Volta Regional Director, Susan Chobbah, described the outreach as a strategic campaign to enrol more young people and educate them on the value of maintaining active membership.
Highlighting ongoing reforms within the Scheme, Ho District Manager Saviour Amakpah reaffirmed the commitment of the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) to universal enrollment and transparency.
