NHIA staff donate GHS 800,000 to Ghana Medical Trust Fund to support patients with NCDs
The management and staff of the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) have donated GHS 800,000 to the Ghana Medical Trust Fund (GMTF) to support the treatment and care of patients living with Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs).
The donation, raised through voluntary contributions by staff and management of the Authority, is expected to provide financial relief to vulnerable patients and families struggling with the high cost of treatment for chronic conditions.
Presenting the funds, officials of the NHIA said the gesture forms part of their commitment to strengthening healthcare support systems and ensuring that no Ghanaian is left behind due to financial barriers to medical care.
The contribution comes at a time when the Ghana Medical Trust Fund continues to mobilise resources to assist patients battling illnesses such as cancer, kidney disease, and other life-threatening non-communicable conditions.
The Chief Executive Officer of the NHIA, Dr Victor Asare Bampoe, was commended for his leadership and sustained backing of the Trust Fund, with management noting that his support has helped drive the Authority’s culture of compassion and social responsibility.
Officials of the Fund, led by its Administrator, Adwoa Oboubia Darko Opoku. described the donation as timely, saying it would directly impact lives by easing the burden on patients and providing hope to families facing difficult medical journeys.
They further called on other institutions, organisations, and individuals to emulate the gesture by contributing to the Fund to help expand access to life-saving care across the country.
