United States Embassy in Accra releases 2,000 additional B1/B2 visa appointment slots to ease travel demand
The United States Embassy in Accra has announced the release of more than 2,000 new visa appointment slots over the next two weeks for applicants seeking B1/B2 visas, creating fresh opportunities for travellers planning trips to the United States.
The additional appointments are intended for individuals travelling for business meetings, tourism, family visits, and other short-term purposes.
The embassy noted that the new openings will also support travellers preparing for major international events, including the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which will be hosted across North America.
In a statement, the embassy encouraged prospective applicants to move quickly to secure one of the available interview dates, citing strong and consistent demand for visitor visas.
Applicants who already have appointments scheduled later in the year have also been advised to log into the visa scheduling system to check for earlier dates and, where possible, reschedule their interviews.
Officials say the move is designed to help reduce existing backlogs and offer greater flexibility for travellers with time-sensitive plans.
Demand for B1/B2 visas, covering temporary travel for business (B1) and tourism or family visits (B2), has remained high in recent years.
The embassy directed applicants to its official visa information portal for full details on requirements, booking procedures, and rescheduling guidance.
