NHIA disburses over GHS392m in claims for Dec & Jan
The National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA), committed to timely reimbursement of service providers, has paid nearly GHS400 million in vetted claims between December 2025 and January 2026.
These payments cover claims submitted by healthcare providers from the previous year and duly approved by the Authority. In total, the NHIA disbursed GHS392,031,851.26 as reimbursement to health facilities for services rendered to members of the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS).
In December 2025, the Authority paid GHS301,658,338.13 in claims. This was followed by an additional GHS90,373,513.13 paid in January 2026, bringing the two‑month total to almost GHS400 million.
A statement from the Finance Directorate of NHIA indicates that the bulk of the payments went to public and private health facilities, which together received 80.55 % of the total claims paid, while mission health facilities received the remaining 19.45 %.
In nominal terms, public health facilities received GHS157,164,301.62, private health facilities were paid GHS158,630,317.29, and mission facilities received GHS76,237,232.35.
The payments reflect the authority’s resolve to promptly settle claims, enabling healthcare providers to continue delivering quality services to NHIS members nationwide.
