Interior Minister engages Zango leaders, offers apology over Ibadur Rahman SHS land remarks
On Saturday, February 28, Mohammed Mubarak Muntaka, the Minister of Interior, held a successful meeting with Zango traditional leaders at the Kumasi Central Mosque to address issues surrounding the Ibadur Rahman Senior High School (SHS) land dispute.
The discussions were part of a broader mediation effort led by Zango community authorities in the Ashanti Region.
The delegation of traditional leaders was led by the acting Sarkin Zango and head of the Mossi community, Ibrahim Abdul Rahman Sanfo.
Minister Muntaka expressed gratitude to the leaders for their commitment to ensuring a peaceful and amicable resolution to the impasse.
Following the mosque meeting, Minister Muntaka visited the Tafsir session of Sheikh Zulkifl Osman Yaaga Al-Azhar at Aboabo as part of his annual mosque visitation programme.
During the visit, he publicly apologised for previous remarks he made regarding the Ibadur Rahman SHS land, describing his earlier comments as “unacceptable” in hindsight.
He called on those offended by his statements to find space in their hearts to forgive him and reaffirmed his dedication to serving the people of his Asawase Constituency.
The engagement reflects ongoing efforts by government officials and traditional authorities to foster dialogue, understanding, and peaceful resolution of community disputes in the region.
