Trade Minister opens 12-unit classroom block at Buoyem
The Member of Parliament for Techiman North and Minister for Trade, Agribusiness and Industry, Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare, has inaugurated a newly constructed 12-unit classroom block at St. Francis Senior High School in Buoyem in the Bono East Region.
She was joined by the Techiman North District Chief Executive, Hon. Adom Kwabena Johnson, for the opening ceremony.
The new facility is expected to ease classroom congestion and create a more conducive environment for teaching and learning.
In addition to the classroom block, the MP and the DCE handed over about 1,000 dual desks to the District Education Directorate to help address the furniture deficit in schools across the district.
About 20 schools are expected to benefit from the distribution, with each school receiving at least 50 desks.
Speaking at the event, Hon. Ofosu-Adjare stated that investing in education and ensuring safe and comfortable learning environments remain top priorities of the government led by President John Dramani Mahama.
She urged students to take advantage of the improved infrastructure by dedicating themselves to their studies and striving for academic excellence.
The Headmaster of St. Francis Senior High School, Rev. Father Martin Oduro Gilson, expressed gratitude for the intervention, describing it as timely and impactful.
He noted that the additional classrooms would significantly reduce overcrowding and enhance teaching and learning.
He, however, appealed for the construction of a perimeter fence and the provision of a school bus to improve security and transportation.
The Techiman North District Education Director, Ahmed Nasir Ibrahim, who received the desks on behalf of the directorate, described the support as a major boost to the district’s educational sector.
Hon. Ofosu-Adjare indicated that the intervention fulfils a key campaign promise and assured constituents that more development projects are in the pipeline.
She also appealed to beneficiary schools to prioritise maintenance of the new facilities and furniture to ensure their longevity.
