NDC caucus will hold government accountable —Mahama Ayariga tells World Bank
Majority Leader Mahama Ayariga has assured the World Bank Group that members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in Parliament will continue to hold the government accountable, despite being from the same political party.
He gave the assurance during a meeting with the World Bank Group’s Managing Director, who is on a visit to the country. Ayariga also highlighted what he described as significant economic progress made by the NDC since returning to power in 2025.
According to him, strong parliamentary oversight by the Majority will ultimately improve government performance and increase the chances of Ghanaians retaining the NDC in office for a longer period.
Meanwhile, Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin criticised the government, accusing it of paying only lip service to the agriculture sector.
For his part, the World Bank Group’s Managing Director and Chief Knowledge Officer, Paschal Donohoe, reaffirmed the institution’s commitment to maintaining a strong partnership with Ghana to support and strengthen the local economy.
