Ghana’s Minister for Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has held separate meetings with the heads of mission of the United States, Israel and Iran in Accra to discuss the ongoing military escalation in the Middle East and its potential implications for Ghanaian nationals in the region.

In a statement shared on Facebook, the minister said the meetings took place at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration and focused on obtaining firsthand insights into the evolving situation.

According to Mr Ablakwa, the engagements were also aimed at securing assurances for the safety of Ghanaians living in affected areas and seeking cooperation from the respective governments to facilitate the safe evacuation of Ghanaian citizens if the situation deteriorates.

The discussions were attended by Israeli Ambassador Roey Gilad, Iranian Ambassador Ali Ghomshi, and Chargé d'Affaires ad interim of the US Rolf Olson.
