69th Independence Day: Ghana declares 6th March 2026 as public holiday
The Government of Ghana has officially declared Friday, 6th March 2026, as a public holiday, according to a statement released by the Ministry of the Interior.
The announcement directs all managers to ensure that essential operations continue during the holiday by selecting and scheduling the appropriate teams to work.
In its statement, the ministry wished Ghanaians a peaceful and restful holiday, urging everyone to observe the day responsibly.
This public holiday comes as Ghana marks 69 years of independence from colonial rule. Falling on Friday means it extends the weekend by a day.
