Ghana’s High Commissioner-Designate to Nigeria: Baba Sadiq pledges to serve with 'diligence and integrity'
Businessman and politician Baba Sadiq Abdulai Abu has expressed profound gratitude after being appointed as Ghana’s High Commissioner-Designate to Nigeria.
In a statement shared on X, Abu said he was “profoundly honoured by the confidence of H.E. President John Dramani Mahama in appointing me” to the diplomatic post.
He also extended his appreciation to the Minister for Foreign Affairs, Samuel O. Ablakwa, for his support. Mr Ablakwa announced Baba Sadiq's appointment on Sunday, March 1, 2026.
“I have no doubt you will hold aloft Ghana’s flag and make the youth of our continent proud,” he noted.
In his post, Baba Sadiq pledged his commitment to serving Ghana with “diligence and integrity,” emphasising his dedication to strengthening the bilateral relations between Ghana and Nigeria.
The appointment comes at a time when Ghana seeks to deepen diplomatic, economic, and cultural ties with Nigeria, its largest neighbour and one of Africa’s key economies.
Baba Sadiq replaces Baba Jamal who is the National Democratic Congress (NDC) candidate going into the Ayawaso East by-election today, March 3.
