NPP elders form committee to monitor campaign conduct ahead of presidential primary

The National Council of Elders of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has established an Ad-Hoc Committee to oversee the conduct of aspirants, their campaign teams, and supporters in the lead-up to the party’s presidential primary scheduled for January 31, 2026.
The move follows a meeting between the Council and presidential hopefuls on Thursday, September 11, 2025, and is aimed at safeguarding the integrity and unity of the party during the campaign period.
The committee has been tasked to:
Monitor the comments, actions, and behaviour of aspirants and their supporters.
Receive and review petitions related to hate speech, insults, or abusive language.
Recommend measures, including disciplinary actions, to ensure a respectful and dignified campaign atmosphere.
According to the Council, the mechanism will provide a fair and transparent process to resolve disputes while preserving the party’s values and traditions.
The five-member committee will be chaired by Ing. Dr. Kwasi Abeasi, with Dr. Alex Glover-Quartey, Mr. Ato Hamilton, Mr. Kwadwo Afari, and Mr. Mark Opoku (Secretary) serving as members.
In a statement issued by Council Chairman Hon. Hackman Owusu-Agyemang, the elders urged all aspirants and their campaign teams to cooperate fully with the committee.
“The Party remains committed to conducting a peaceful, respectful, and dignified primary process that strengthens our unity and readiness for the national elections,” the statement added.
