Mahdi Jibril accuses NPP of hypocrisy, reaffirms NDC’s commitment to anti-LGBTQ+ Bill
The Deputy Director of Elections and IT for the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC),Alhaji Mahdi Jibril, has reiterated that the Mahama-led NDC's administration remains firmly committed to the passage of the anti-LGBTQ+ bill.
His comments follow recent pressure from the Minority in Parliament, led by Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin, urging the government to expedite the passage of the bill.
Speaking in an interview with Samuel Payitey of the Accra 100.5FM News Desk, Mr. Jibril expressed surprise at the Minority’s stance, describing it as inconsistent and hypocritical.
According to him, it is ironic for members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to demand the bill’s passage when their own administration failed to assent to it during their tenure.
He further criticised the Minority, describing them as “an entertainment group” rather than a serious political force.
Additionally, Mahdi Jibril accused the NPP of lacking leadership and integrity, alleging that their desire to return to power stems from a need to shield themselves from accountability.
He emphasised that the NDC is focused on restoring responsible governance and protecting national values.
