Foreign Affairs Minister briefs newly appointed Deputy Heads of Mission
The Minister for Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, Mr Samuel Okudzeto-Ablakwa (MP), has held a comprehensive briefing session with newly appointed Deputy Heads of Mission and Heads of Consular Missions as part of their preparation for overseas assignments.
The session, held at the Ministry’s headquarters, aimed to equip the new envoys with the knowledge and strategic direction necessary to effectively represent Ghana’s interests abroad.
In his address, Mr. Ablakwa emphasised the importance of upholding Ghana’s image and reputation in all diplomatic engagements.
He reminded the appointees that their conduct and performance abroad directly reflect the values and aspirations of the nation.
Touching on the government’s focus on economic diplomacy, the Minister urged the envoys to prioritise efforts that would attract foreign investment, promote trade, and strengthen bilateral and multilateral ties.
He noted that in today’s global environment, diplomacy must go beyond political relations to include economic cooperation, innovation, and sustainable partnerships.
“As you assume your new responsibilities, remember that every engagement, every partnership, and every representation you make contributes to Ghana’s growth and international standing,” the Minister stated.
In response, the newly appointed Deputy Heads of Mission expressed gratitude for the orientation and pledged their commitment to serve diligently and contribute to Ghana’s development.
They assured the Minister of their readiness to work collaboratively in advancing the nation’s foreign policy objectives and strengthening its global presence.
The briefing marks another important step in the Ministry’s ongoing efforts to ensure that Ghana’s diplomatic missions are staffed with competent, motivated, and mission-driven representatives committed to upholding the country’s interests on the global stage.
