A time is coming, we will have a female IGP- Prophet Ask-Ackrong
Prophet Stephen Ask-Ackrong, General Overseer of the Focus Outreach Movement, has prophesied that Ghana will one day swear in its first female Inspector General of Police (IGP). Sharing a personal wish of the vision he saw, the prophet said he wishes the manifestation of this appointment will occur during the administration of President John Dramani Mahama.
"A time is coming we are going to have a female IGP. I am praying that it will happen during President Mahama's time," Ask-Ackrong said.
This prophetic pronouncement arrives at a moment of transition and debate within the Ghana Police Service, centred on the tenure of the current IGP.
The backdrop to this prophecy is the impending retirement of the current Inspector-General of Police, Christian Tetteh Yohuno.
He reaches the statutory retirement age of 60 on December 27, 2025. However, following a recommendation from the Police Council, President Mahama has approved a two-year post-retirement contract extension for IGP Yohuno.
The extension, effective from December 28, 2025, was granted on the grounds that his continued leadership is "essential to sustaining ongoing reforms, strengthening operational effectiveness, and ensuring stability within the Ghana Police Service at this critical period".
Prophet Ask-Ackrong anchored his hope for a female IGP in President Mahama's record, rhetorically noting that the administration has already appointed the first female Director-General of the Ghana Prisons Service.
However, with the extension of IGP Yohuno's tenure to 2027, the next appointment of a new IGP under the current administration will be in 2028.
This makes the fulfilment of the prophecy in President Mahama's current term still possible to happen.
