GFZA CEO backs new pharmaceutical venture under Free Zones Scheme

On Tuesday, July 8, 2025, the Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Free Zones Authority (GFZA), Dr Mary Awusi, warmly welcomed renowned Ghanaian-American plastic surgeon and entrepreneur, Dr. Michael Obeng, during a visit to the Authority’s headquarters.
The meeting centred on Dr. Obeng’s forthcoming pharmaceutical venture, MikoPharma, which he intends to establish under the Ghana Free Zones Scheme.
The project, described as ambitious and forward-looking, is expected to create skilled employment opportunities, enhance local pharmaceutical manufacturing, and supply essential medical products across both regional and international markets.
The GFZA CEO expressed strong support for the initiative, assuring Dr. Obeng of the Authority’s full commitment to ensuring a smooth and efficient setup process.
“Our dedicated handholding team will provide the necessary guidance and support at every stage,” the CEO said.
