Ghana held state funeral for victims of Adansi Akrofuom helicopter crash

The Minister for Interior, Mohammed Muntaka Mubarak, joined Ghanaians gathered at the Black Star Square on Friday for a solemn state funeral in honour of the eight victims of the August 6 helicopter crash in Adansi Akrofuom, Ashanti Region.
The ceremony brought together the nation’s top leadership, led by President John Dramani Mahama and Vice President Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang.
They were joined by former Presidents John Agyekum Kufuor and Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, former Vice President Alhaji Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, Ministers of state, members of the diplomatic corps, traditional rulers, the clergy, and thousands of citizens who came to pay their final respects.
The service featured moving tributes from government officials, institutional representatives, and relatives of the deceased. In his address, President Mahama described the victims as “heroes who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to the nation.”
The funeral, marked by national mourning and unity, highlighted the deep sense of loss felt across Ghana while celebrating the dedication and sacrifice of the fallen.
The ceremony ended with prayers for resilience, remembrance, and the peaceful repose of the victims’ souls.
