The Responsible Cooperative Mining and Skills Development Programme (rCOMSDEP) has cautioned the public, particularly miners, to be wary of individuals falsely posing as agents of the Secretariat.

In a statement issued by the National Coordinator, Ing. Frank Asare, the Secretariat revealed that some persons and groups are using the name of rCOMSDEP to deceive and extort money from unsuspecting miners.

These impostors reportedly promise to facilitate access to mineralised areas under the guise of the Responsible Cooperative Mining Scheme.

rCOMSDEP stressed that it has not appointed any agents and has not authorised anyone in any region to register miners on its behalf.

The Secretariat described the actions of these individuals as fraudulent and warned that anyone caught engaging in such activities will face arrest and be prosecuted in accordance with Ghanaian law.

The public has been urged to remain vigilant and report such cases to the police immediately.

For accurate information on responsible cooperative mining, the Secretariat directed the public to its official website, www.rcomsdep.gov.gh, or to contact the office via 0302787825 or frank.asare@rcomsdep.gov.gh.

The Secretariat’s office is located at No. 6 First Rangoon Street, Cantonments, Accra
