Lands Minister signs book of condolence for fallen NAiMOS officer
The Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, Mr. Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, on Thursday led a delegation from the Ministry to the headquarters of the National Anti-Illegal Mining Operations Secretariat (NAiMOS) to sign the Book of Condolence in honour of Private Sarfo Agyapong Collins, the officer who died in the line of duty earlier this week.
Private Collins lost his life during Tuesday’s operation near the Obuasi Airport enclave, where he had been deployed as part of ongoing efforts to combat illegal mining activities in the area.
His passing has been described as a significant loss to the nation’s security and environmental protection efforts.
Mr. Armah-Kofi Buah expressed profound sorrow over the incident and conveyed President John Mahama’s sympathies to the bereaved family and the entire NAiMOS team.
He paid tribute to the late officer, describing him as a courageous patriot whose dedication and sacrifice would forever be remembered.
The Minister also disclosed that four officers who sustained injuries in the same accident are currently receiving medical treatment.
He assured that the government remains committed to supporting the affected personnel and all teams working tirelessly in the fight against illegal mining.
Members of the public have been invited to participate in the condolence-signing exercise as a show of solidarity and respect for the fallen officer.
The Ministry encouraged citizens to visit its official website for additional details regarding the incident and ongoing support efforts.
Private Sarfo Agyapong Collins is being mourned as a national hero. May his soul rest in peace.
