The Minister for Defence, Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, has reiterated the government’s commitment to a transparent and merit-based recruitment process into the Ghana Armed Forces, emphasising that enlistment is not for sale.

He made this clear during a working engagement with the Parliamentary Committee on Defence and Interior, led by Mr. James Agalga, at the Ministry of Defence headquarters, The Square.

The meeting, held to review the Ministry’s operations and challenges, focused on national security efforts, recruitment integrity, and the need for improved logistics for the armed forces.

Dr. Omane Boamah assured the committee that recruitment into the Armed Forces will remain strictly based on competence and fairness.

“I emphasised that enlistment and recruitment into the Ghana Armed Forces will be strictly merit-based, and not for sale.

We are committed to transparency and fairness in our recruitment process,” he stated.

He also highlighted the pressing need for enhanced platforms and equipment to enable the military to effectively respond to emerging security threats, particularly in volatile areas across the country.

The Parliamentary Committee commended the Ministry’s efforts and pledged Parliament’s continued support in providing the necessary resources and advocacy to bolster national security.
