O/R: Jasikan assembly, friends of Adaklu champion digital learning with Starlink rollout

To bridge the digital divide and prepare young learners for a knowledge-driven future, the Jasikan Municipal Assembly has teamed up with Friends of Adaklu, a Ghanaian non-governmental organisation (NGO), to advance digital education across the municipality.
The Jasikan Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Parke-Davis Magyigbe, led a delegation of school coordinators from Jasikan to Kpedze-Todze for a specialised training session focused on digital learning, responsible internet use in education, and the installation of Starlink satellite internet systems.
Participating schools included Jasico Demonstration, Nuriya Islamic School, Oseikrom Basic School, Bueman Senior High School, and Fr Dogli Memorial School.
Magyigbe championed the initiative by lobbying Friends of Adaklu’s Programme and Policy Advisor, Robert Tornu, to collaborate with Our Future Prize, an international organisation that provides internet connectivity to African schools and promotes online learning. Their combined efforts have already enabled several schools across the Volta, Oti, and Eastern Regions to benefit from high-speed Starlink internet.
Addressing participants at the training, Magyigbe reaffirmed the assembly’s commitment to ensuring that the new resources were used effectively to transform education. He urged school coordinators to make the most of this opportunity to enhance teaching and learning.
"This bold step positions Jasikan Municipality at the forefront of ICT-driven education," he noted.
He added that the donation would help bridge the technology gap and equip students with the skills needed in a modern economy.
Magyigbe also appealed to the Ghana Investment Fund for Electronic Communications (GIFEC) to provide additional computers to local schools, saying that greater access to hardware would maximise the impact of the newly installed internet infrastructure.
With these investments and partnerships, Jasikan is poised to become a model district for digital education in Ghana, offering students fast, reliable internet connectivity and a gateway to global knowledge resources.
