Police arrest man with pump action gun at Akwatia

Police in the Eastern Region have arrested a 33-year-old man, identified as Bernard Kumi Ofosu, after a pump action gun and cartridges were retrieved from his vehicle during a patrol operation.
According to police reports, the incident occurred around 8:00 a.m. on August 22, 2025, near the St. Dominic Hospital at Akwatia.
A police patrol team intercepted the suspect’s car and, upon conducting a search, discovered a Tulpar double-barrel pump action gun, along with five AAA live cartridges and two FTB blank cartridges.
The suspect was immediately taken into custody.
During interrogation, he admitted ownership of the firearm and presented a license, numbered 14/1179006 and marked AAAJ/1990/2025-ADLER TULPAR 24SA-12262, dated January 30, 2025.
Police say Mr. Ofosu is currently in custody assisting with investigations, while the case remains under review.
Authorities indicated that further updates will be provided in due course.
