V/R: Eyewitnesses finger STC driver in accident which instantly killed Mahama Can-do rider

A total of four passengers are in critical condition after a Mahama Can-do (keke) vehicle registered M-25-V/R 606 they were riding in was crashed into by an STC bus registered V/R 63-18.
The road accident happened on Monday, June 16, 2025, at about 8:45pm in Ho near National Investment Bank (NIB).
The bus was conveying passengers from Accra to Ho, and while descending from the Ho High Court (VRCC) road within the Ho township, lost control and ran into the keke which was coming from Civic Centre to KK House.
Speaking to Class News, Prosper Agbeti, a passenger in the front seat of the STC bus said the driver was speeding and many attempts to calm him down was not successful.
“I boarded the bus from Accra and on the way, he had been speeding, and many efforts to control him rather provoked him,” he added.
“At a pointed, he ended up insulting us in the bus, defending his reckless driving. [He said] he has been driving for many years now and cannot be controlled.”
“When we got to Ghana Post Office near Vodafone, I told him I want to alright there. He stopped and whiles I was about to get down from the car, he drove off and I was fast enough to save myself. At the time he was on phone making call whiles approaching the junction so he never failed break but he was making call and couldn't check the other oncoming vehicle,” Mr Agbeti narrated, debunking the claim the bus had its brake fail.
He blamed the accident on the STC driver.
Another eyewitness Madam Fafali said she was walking on the pavement and saw the STC bus from afar on top speed, descending from the high court road.
“I was walking on the pavement and saw the STC bus coming with speed whiles the keke rider was coming from Civic Centre and was in his lane. The only thing I heard was the bus crashing [into] the keke driver with his passengers down,” she noted.
Unfortunately, the keke driver was crushed to death with his brain matter and blood spilled.
Meanwhile, his passengers are in critical condition.
Residents within the Ho municipality have called on the Ghana Highway Authority and the National Road Safety Authority to ensure the construction of speed ramps and the erection of a traffic light at the Post Office to High Court (VRCC) road junction to prevent more accidents and loss of lives.
In a swift response, personnel from the Ghana National Fire Service and the Ghana Police Service reported to the accident scene to save victims who were rushed to Ho Teaching Hospital and Ho Municipal Hospital for treatment by the Ghana National Ambulance Service.
The STC bus driver has been remanded at the Ho Central Police Station.
