UE/R: Regional Minister inspects temporary passport office

The Upper East Regional Minister, Akamugri Donatus Atanga, on Wednesday, September 3, 2025, paid a working visit to inspect the newly established temporary passport office situated within the premises of GCB Bank in the capital of the Upper East Region, Bolgatanga.
He was accompanied by the Acting Chief Director of the Regional Coordinating Council, Alhaji Mohammed Issahaku. Together, they toured the facility to assess the progress of work ahead of its official opening.
In an address after the inspection, the minister expressed satisfaction with the level of progress made so far. He noted that the absence of a passport office in the region had long been a challenge for residents, forcing them to travel to the Upper West or Northern Regions to acquire passports — a situation that particularly affected Hajj pilgrims and other travellers.
Donatus Atanga emphasised the importance of the facility, adding that residents would be greatly relieved once the office was operationalised, hopefully within the coming week.
