A solemn wreath-laying ceremony was held at the Military Cemetery in Burma Camp on Wednesday, November 12, 2025, to mark the fifth anniversary of the passing of former President Jerry John Rawlings.

The ceremony, officiated by Lt. Col. (Rev. Father) Benjamin Kwesi Effah, was a subdued and family-focused affair.

In attendance were the children of the late former President, the Head of the Agbotui Family, Colonel Joshua Agbotui, and other close family members.

A single wreath was laid on behalf of the Rawlings family by his children in a poignant tribute.

The scaled-down nature of this year's observance follows the recent and tragic passing of Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings, the former First Lady, on October 23, 2025.

Due to this profound loss, plans for a larger public commemoration of the fifth anniversary have been placed on hold.

The nation paused to remember Flt. Lt. Jerry John Rawlings, a pivotal figure in Ghana's history, passed away on November 12, 2020.

The ceremony served as a quiet moment of reflection on his life and legacy.
