Rebecca Akufo-Addo inaugurates modern library at Achimota Primary School
Former First Lady Rebecca Akufo-Addo has inaugurated a newly built and fully furnished library for Achimota Primary School, the institution where she began her early education in the Greater Accra Region.
In a statement issued on 26th November, Mrs. Akufo-Addo described the opening as a deeply meaningful moment, calling it an opportunity to give back to the school that helped shape her formative years.
She expressed appreciation to the founders and teachers of Achimota for the values, discipline, and academic grounding they imparted to her.
The new library is equipped with a rich collection of books, computers, and a child-friendly reading space designed to encourage both literacy and digital learning among pupils.
The facility forms part of ongoing national efforts to strengthen foundational education and expand access to quality learning resources for young children.
Mrs. Akufo-Addo noted that the project reflects the broader work of The Rebecca Foundation, which continues to invest in educational infrastructure across the country.
She stressed that creating safe, inspiring, and well-resourced learning environments remains central to the Foundation’s mission of empowering children to achieve their full potential.
The opening adds to a growing list of interventions by the Foundation in schools nationwide, including libraries, early childhood centres, and health support initiatives.
